Gunnar Kahlmeter

Gunnar Kahlmeter is a leading authority in the field of antimicrobial susceptibility testing, antimicrobial resistance and infection control, working in the front-line of harmonising international clinical breakpoints. Former chairman of EUCAST (2001-2012) and president of ESCMID (2012-2014). Gunnar Kahlmeter headed the Dept of Clinical Microbiology in the Swedish hospital region Kronoberg for more than 30 years, and he is today Head of the EUCAST Development Laboratory and National Reference Laboratory on phenotypic susceptibility testing.

Holger Rohde is the deputy head of the Institute for Medical Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene at the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), Germany and Professor of Molecular Microbiology. Holger Rohde is a senior physician and medical specialist in Microbiology, Virology and Infectious Disease Epidemiology. His research focuses on the role of biofilm formation in implant associated staphylococcal infections. He is an advocate of rapid diagnostics and has ample experience validating innovative technologies.

Jeffrey Bender is an Infection Disease Physician, Medical Microbiologist and Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, CA, USA. His research is centered on understanding the role of the infant’s microbiome and its host interactions. Jeffrey Bender is also interested in hospital epidemiology and the implementation of rapid diagnostics in the pediatric setting.
